Roadtrip Nation brought its inspirational program and iconic green RV to I.C. Norcom High School on Friday, Nov. 3, for an event to inspire students to explore the real-life possibilities of a career in the STEM fields. This event was made possible by a $2.2 million contribution from AT&T as part of its AT&T Aspire initiative. See the video here.

Following Roadtrip Nation’s recently launched documentary series, “A Balanced Equation,” this event — and others like it around the country — will help students learn how their personal interests could lead to a successful career in STEM. The students will have the opportunity to interview a professional from the community and watch interviews of inspiring women who are shaping the world in the STEM industries, such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Students at Norcom High School heard from Dr. P. Dreux Chappell, assistant professor of Ocean, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences at Old Dominion University.

“Sharing stories and experiencing firsthand what career options are available are pillars of Roadtrip Nation’s mission,” said Mike Marriner, co-founder of Roadtrip Nation. “With the help of AT&T, we are able to bring to life real stories of trailblazing women who charted their own paths in STEM careers to students at Norcom High School and across the country.”
