For the past several years, AT&T and DRIVE SMART Virginia have teamed up on many events and activities to stop distracted driving on Virginia's roads. Together, we’ve reminded drivers of all ages "It Can Wait."
DRIVE SMART Virginia recently launched a new Coalition for Safe Driving, composed of more than 100 businesses, associations, and state and local agencies across Virginia.
Vince Apruzzese, AT&T’s regional vice president for External Affairs in Virginia, announced that AT&T has joined the coalition.
“Through our It Can Wait campaign, we’ve been working with DRIVE SMART Virginia and other organizations in the Commonwealth to help drive home the message that no post, selfie, text, or status update is worth a life. We want drivers of all ages to keep their eyes on the road, not on their phones. Joining this coalition is another way to amplify this message,” Apruzzese said.
As a member of the Drive Smart Virginia Coalition for Safe Driving, AT&T joins other organizations in raising awareness about the importance of safe driving, including distraction free driving, sharing the road, fleet safety, vulnerable road users, and sober driving through various strategies in order to prevent crashes and injuries on Virginia roadways, according to DRIVE SMART Virginia.
“Distracted Driving alone has been cited by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as an epidemic, requiring immediate attention,” said Jane Brooking, executive director, DRIVE SMART Virginia. “We’re excited that AT&T has signed on to this life-saving effort.”
