AT&T Alley Gators raise funds for JA of Western PA, AT&T Pioneers help Shalom House in Harrisburg

For several years, AT&T and its employees have given time, talent and contributions to support Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania. Among other things, our employees have worked with JA on mentoring and job shadowing programs for students in the Pittsburgh area. And, this year, the AT&T Alley Gators raised almost $1,000 for JA during the recent Bowl-a-Thon — making the team the top fundraiser for the event. The AT&T team also won the “Team Spirit” award for the second year.

The volunteer effort was organized by the Women of AT&T Pittsburgh Chapter — an employee resource group. The following WOA members helped with this year’s event: Mike Gresko; Debbie Reese; Sue Portera; Bill Wotus; Cathy O’Toole; Mike LeDonne; Kathy Rojas; Mark Costantino; Jim Gallagher; Renee Waibel; and Rose Yost.

In May, the Heart of PA Club of the AT&T Pioneers sponsored a team to participate in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. A team of AT&T employees, along with their friends and families, completed a 5K walk to raise money and awareness for The Shalom House, temporary shelter for women and children who have nowhere else to go. The House provides for their basic needs, along with the resources necessary to sustain future financial health.

The team exceeded its $1,000 fundraising goal and remained the Shalom House’s top fundraising team for the 4th consecutive year!
